Meet the Counselors
Hello Brown Students, Parents and Community Members!
My goal as a Brown School Counselor is to help ALL students feel connected to the Brown School Community. I aim to help students feel confident about their academics, their relationships with peers and adults and help students develop goals for their future.
When I’m not meeting with students, parents or teachers, you can find me in core and health classes engaging students in fun lessons on topics such as kindness, respect, acceptance, conflict resolution, stress management, organization and friendship. I also work with students in leadership groups like Student Council and Peer Supporters. In addition, students will be invited to have lunch with me and peers throughout the year to get to know one another better so I can best help students explore their strengths and interests.
Before coming to Brown in 2013, I was a School Counselor in Syracuse, New York. I grew up in Connecticut and attended Syracuse University where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. When I’m not at Brown, I enjoy reading, exercising and when it’s warm, I spend as much time outdoors or at the beach as possible.
Hello Brown School Community!
I am very excited to be back at Brown Middle School for my fourth year. For the 2014-2015 school year I will be working with the 6th grade and I know we are going to have a great school year!
Students will see me in Health classes this year teaching lessons on Career Exploration, Student Success Plans as well as Flirting vs Hurting. I will also continue to work with the 6th grade Student Council, Peer Supporters and this winter I will begin a Computer Games after school academic intramural.
This is my 12th year as a school counselor! When I am not helping students I enjoy being creative. I love singing, painting, reading, hiking outdoors, dancing, yoga, acting and exercising! I also love watching movies, playing scrabble and creating music with my friends and family.Miss Hayes pictured below with members of the 2014-2015 6th grade Student Council who participated in a Student Leadership Conference atTrinity College.
