Memorial Day

Thank you to our PTO who provided a lovely breakfast on Friday for our local veterans who came to speak at our annual Memorial Day assembly.  The breakfast was delicious and provided a small way to pay tribute and to honor those who served  our country.  The assembly itself, organized by grade 5 social studies Department Leader, Peter Bizier, was a moving tribute to remember those who have lost lives in service to our country.  Several students shared essays they had written and Representative Noreen Kokoruda attended to commend our student writers and share a message about the importance of Memorial Day.  Veteran Larry Brundrett addressed the student audience followed by a sincere round of applause from all those in attendance.  The talented grades 5 and 6 chorus students performed several patriotic songs and our 6th grade jazz band played "Stars and Stripes Forever." As always, our student audience made us all proud and demonstrated both respect and honor for our guests.

Coin Drive

Brown students are sponsoring a coin collection to benefit  Vida Volunteer, a non-profit organization that helps reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Guatemala, as well as helping to maintain healthy livestock in those countries.  The drive will run through the month of May, and collection jars are in our cafeteria.

Summer Tiger Troupe

Come be part of Brown's 2017 Summer Tiger Troupe as they prepare Untitled! This play focuses on a group of students who find an untitled script and begin to rehearse it to figure out what it's all about. The troupe begins meeting on Tuesday, June 20, and will rehearse every Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM in the Brown Middle School auditorium. The rehearsals will culminate in one evening performance of the play presented on Friday, July 7 at 7:00 PM. Any student who is entering or exiting Brown Middle School during the 2017 calendar year is eligible. This includes students who will be fifth, sixth or seventh graders in the fall. Please fill in the registration form and return it to Brown Middle School, along with a check for $295 made out to Brown Middle School.
