Final Reminder

Last chance to get all accurate facts regarding critical referendum Tuesday.

The PTO of each school will collectively host a final Informational session for all parents Monday night September 25 at 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. in the Daniel Hand High School cafe.  Babysitting services will be provided.

The upcoming referendum will have a consequential impact on the future of the Madison Public Schools programs and facilities.  The referendum will take place on Tuesday September 26 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

I will be available for the evening to share facts about the Board of Education's long-term plan while also answering questions. Lead consultant for the district, Chuck Warrington, P.E., Senior Project Manager for Colliers International, and Stacy Nobitz, Madison Director of Finance, will join me.

In short, after nearly three years, the Board of Education concluded that this long-term plan would:

  • be more economically responsible by bundling projects, shrinking project timelines, and proactively addressing aging and deteriorating facilities,
  • provide 21st century security, indoor air quality, energy efficiencies, and learning spaces,
  • be the least possibly disruptive plan for our youngest learners with minimal transitions,
  • maintain the quality of education that is expected in Madison,
  • maintain a small school culture with two small elementary schools (K-3), with one in the north and another in the south end of town.

I submitted this Letter to the Editor of The Source that ran in yesterday's edition.

Continuing through Tuesday September 26, I will host office hours at the Board of Education Offices (10 Campus Dr.) from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. for appointments scheduled 24 hours in advance in order to answer any questions or share any factual information regarding the referendum.
