Daniel Hand High School Students – “Art From The Heart” Project
The Board of Education recognized students from Daniel Hand High School, along with Consumer Science Teacher Anita Ferron for their participation in “Art From The Heart” through the Circle of Care program, which supports children who have cancer by redecorating their bedrooms. Ms. Ferron was initially contacted by Madison Residents Tina Garrity and Carol Newton who work with Circle of Care. This year the students are redecorating the room of a 7 year old boy named Josh who lives in Guilford.

Chess Champion

The Board of Education recognized Jeffrey Elementary School 3rd Grader Daniel Luo. Daniel recently competed in the Connecticut Association of Schools Scholastic Chess Championship and placed second in the 3rd Grade Division. Daniel is pictured with Interim Superintendent Anita Rutlin, Board Chair Debra Frey, and his father, Guanglin Luo.

Balsa Wood Structure Team
The Board of Education recognized members of the Daniel Hand High School ‘Balsa Wood Structure Team’, which recently won the Silver Medal at the Connecticut Odyssey of the Mind Tournament. The team has also been invited to compete in the Odyssey World Finals at Iowa State University in May.
