The Madison Board of Education requested proposals from
CCEF qualified Solar Photovoltaic System Installers for the installation of a
49 kilowatt Solar Photovoltaic System.
After review of the bids, Waldo Renewable was awarded the
project. The project consisted of
installing 198 225-watt solar panels on the roof of Island Avenue
School. The project began on August 8th
and was completed on August 24, 2010.
In addition to the panels, the project also included an upgrade to the
existing electrical service and distribution panels, which were installed in
1950. The Town received a grant from
the CCEF as part of a successful completion of the project. The anticipated yearly savings are approximately
$9,000.00.
