Dear Parents,
The report card for Madison elementary school students is a standards-based report card. This means that, rather than reporting the “average” of your child’s grades in the form of a single letter for each subject area, teachers will report specific levels of skill development in the content areas based on grade level standards established by the curriculum. These grade level “standards” are based on the State of Connecticut standards called the K-12 Frameworks.
The intent of the student report card is to provide parents and teachers with information regarding each student’s level of understanding of the key subject area concepts being taught at each grade level. This expanded reporting system provides added insights into the students’ specific strengths and needs.
