Summer Reading 2016

Madison Public Schools

Excellence in Education

Summer 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Greetings from Central Office.

The annual Madison Public Schools Summer Reading List (SRL) is a sure sign of summer and I am excited to share it with you. Each year the SRL is compiled through the collaborative efforts of many including Madison Public Schools staff and community professionals. All are anxious to share their personal love of reading, and dedicated to developing a compelling list of titles for our students to enjoy.

Located on the district website,, the 2016 Summer Reading List is a tool to encourage reading as a joyful habit that will never stop amazing, amusing, informing, stretching our imaginations and challenging our thinking. The list should be viewed as a starting point only. We encourage you to help your child(ren) seek out other resources to find books that are “just right” for them.

It should be noted that many of the titles in the 2016 Summer Reading List are available in e-Book and audio format. These can be found through the Scranton Library catalog at or through Madison Public Schools’ eBook collections at

Best wishes for an enjoyable and relaxing summer. And when you’re packing for the family vacation or day at the beach, don’t forget the book, Kindle or iPad. Happy Reading!
