Author Laura Schroff Visits Brown

On March 9 Laura Schroff, author of An Invisible Thread, visited Brown School. She spoke to both grade levels and stayed well beyond the school day, making sure all of the books presented to her were signed.

Leading up to the visit, our staff read parts of the book to students and students engaged in whole-school book discussions. Additionally, as part of our whole school initiative, students were asked to commit to an act of kindness while they join in book discussions in their homeroom classes. The student pledges were posted on our lobby bulletin board throughout the month of February.

In the spirit of Kindness, we also started the Brown Food Drive for Madison’s Food Pantry. Students and staff were encouraged to consider how just one act of kindness can have a huge ripple effect into our community at large.
