Read Across America
March 5, 2020 - This week schools across the district are celebrating Read across America, a national initiative to motivate students to read and bring the joys of reading to all students.
At Brown Intermediate, students started the week celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. Students participated in “drop everything and read” and a new feature of the Brown Library called the Brown Book Share was unveiled.
The Book Share is part of an effort to surround to surround student with as many books as possible. Over the past few weeks, students having been bringing in gently used books for K-5 readers as donations to populate the book share located on the edge of the library.
Students will be able to take a book or two. They do not need to return that exact book. However, to keep the Brown Book Share full of good choices, on the honor system, everyone contributes to ensure there are always quality books available.
Throughout the week students were invited to stop by the library for the “Dr. Seuss Photo booth”
