What is Coffee with the Counselors?

Each trimester, the Brown School Counselors host a morning program for parents on a topic that is relevant to middle school. Previous topics include middle school transitions, helping students navigate the middle school social arena and supporting students with the academic demands of middle school. All parents are welcome to attend these meetings which last about an hour and assorted coffee and treats are provided. Our program typically involves a short presentation that includes a variety of resources and handouts. We then leave plenty of time for further discussions and questions. "Coffee with the Counselors" is designed to not only provide parents with information and resources but we aim to help parents develop a support network. We recognize that many parents have similar questions regarding how to navigate through their child's middle school years and our program is a great venue to meet other parents who share common experiences.

The meeting dates and topics will be announced on this webpage and via the Brown School listserv.

What if I cannot attend but want the information?

We understand that the life of a parent is very busy and that some circumstances prevent you for being able to make it to a morning meeting. We will post the PowerPoint presentation and the handouts on our website shortly after the meeting, so check back here if you cannot join us. Both School Counselors are also available to talk to parents over the phone about the topic as well.
