Thursday, June 14, 2018 Mrs. Spooner's June Letter June 14, 2018 Dear Ryerson Families, It is hard to believe the 2017-2018 school year is quickly coming to an end! It did appear through this long winter and other weather issues that the end would never arrive; but here we are. The end of a school year is always bittersweet in part due to all the memories, successes and accomplishments mad throughout the year. We have had such a successful year as a learning community. The students have made great strides this year in their learning. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and energy continue to inspire us to expand their learning and increase the possibilities for them educationally. Our continued work this year in the areas of Language Arts and Mathematics has certainly increased student engagement and motivation. Regardless of the classroom I visited this year, students were engrossed in quality literature, rich discussions, and work with complex equations. In all classrooms, students were eager to share their written work and their explanations for how best to solve mathematical problems. Teachers at Ryerson have worked diligently to ensure that learning remains fun and rewarding for every child. As we embark on the summer, we hope that everyone continues to engage in mathematical problem solving and literature using our district's math and reading challenge. Each of these challenges can be found on our school webpage and district website. During the summer, I encourage all parents to check out our Ryerson website to access your child's school supply list for the fall. All grade level supply lists will be posted on our Ryerson homepage for your convenience in early August. I would like to take this time to thank the Executive PTO Board and all the PTO volunteers who have made this year such a huge success. The traditions, fundraisers and day to day activities would not be as successful or memorable if it were not for the countless moms and dads who volunteer their time to make each event a success. As a staff, we are thankful to all who helped to make the Science Fair, the Fun Fair, the Book Fair, Give to Grow, and every event at Ryerson remarkable! We are so appreciative of your time, energy and commitment to our learning community. I would also like to thank all the staff members of Ryerson Elementary School. We are very fortunate at Ryerson to have such talented and dedicated staff members. I thank all the teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, the nurse, and the school secretary for all they do to make Ryerson such a special little school on the hill!
A few housekeeping items to remind you all as we wind down:
Last call….the "Lost and Found" bin is overflowing! Please check out this bin that will be placed in the main lobby for the remainder of the school year! It is filled with jackets, sweatshirts, hats, shirts and much more! Lastly, I wish you all a long and relaxing summer filled with special summer memories. It continues to be my honor to serve as Ryerson's Instructional Leader. I look forward to more great moments in 2018-2019. Sincerely, Kelly K. Spooner
