Enjoy The Summer

As the school year comes to a close, we transition to summer, a great time for families to connect, for memories to be made, and for students to explore the outdoors and engage in unstructured activity and play.  As a school district, we respect the importance of family time and the opportunities that summer provides children of all ages.

Over the course of the summer, as families unwind, there are also opportunities to dive into some great books.  In an effort to provide guidance for families that are searching for summer reading recommendations, the district has developed a site where students can find many choices to meet their reading interests.   On this site, you will find books that students have recommended, as well as recommendations from librarians for all levels of readers.  In addition to reading, we have created opportunities for engaging summer math practice for all levels K-12!  There are recommendations for apps and games as well as practice for higher math courses with supporting tutorial links.  These are provided as a way for students to "stay fresh" and review math content as families deem appropriate.   We hope that our summer website is a resource for families to help our students maintain skills over the warm days to come.

Following the 2018-2019 school year, our school district will contract from six schools to five.  Although a great deal of planning and preparation for this reconfiguration is underway, there is still much work to be done.  We are entirely on schedule to transition smoothly across the district, and will continue in these efforts through next summer.  As a communication resource for parents and the community, we will be dedicating a tab on our website to the September 2019 reconfiguration of our school district.  This tab will be uploaded with content over the summer so I encourage parents to check our site periodically for updates.

In closing, I would like to wish you and your family a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break.  We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Regards,

Thomas Scarice

Superintendent
