Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of the 2019-2020 district reconfiguration, our school populations will be modified to correspond to new elementary school boundaries and changes in grade compositions at the K-8 level. As promised in a previous communication, this message provides information to parents regarding school assignment for the 2019-2020 school year.

The new elementary school boundaries for the 2019-2020 school year have been posted to the District Website. The Ryerson and Jeffrey districts are identified on a map and corresponding lists of street names are provided. The new boundaries were developed thoughtfully, giving consideration to:

  • Geographic distribution of the student population,
  • Board of Education Class Size Policy (6151),
  • The physical capacities of Jeffrey and Ryerson Elementary Schools, and;
  • Efforts to minimize disruption to families

The impact of the 2019-2020 reconfiguration on the current school population is as follows:

  • All current K- 2 Island Avenue students will be moving to Jeffrey.
  • All current K-2 Ryerson students will remain at Ryerson.
  • Approximately 60% of the current K-2 Jeffrey students will remain at Jeffrey.
  • Approximately 40% of the current K-2 Jeffrey students will attend Ryerson.
  • All current 3rd grade students will attend Brown for 4th grade.
  • All current 5th grade students will attend Polson for 6th grade.

There are many transition programs and activities scheduled throughout the current school year. These events are intended to support a smooth transition for all students, and will be great opportunities for students and their parents to become familiar with their new school communities.
