Student Attendance & Make-up Exams

If a student is ill and will miss or be late to a scheduled exam or a make-up exam, a parent MUST call the school on the morning of the scheduled exam. Failure to call the school will almost certainly result in denial of permission to take a make-up exam. Exceptions to this policy can only be made by the Principal. Make-up examinations are given to students who are unable to attend the regularly scheduled exam period for reasons of illness or other extenuating circumstances. All other reasons for taking a make-up exam in lieu of the regularly scheduled exam MUST be discussed with the teacher involved PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE EXAM.

Requests for Early Examinations

The administration strongly discourages parents from requesting early examinations for students. Such requests, in the interest of examination security, require teachers to make up a separate exam. Should unique circumstances exist requiring a change of a student's examination schedule, parents should submit a written request to the Principal at least three weeks prior to the scheduled exams. The teacher and the Principal will determine whether an exam will be given early or after the conclusion of the term.

Final Exam Exemption Policy for Seniors

This exemption applies to final exams only, not to trimester exams.  The senior final exam exemption requires a cumulative final average of an 89.5 or higher.  This exemption applies for all senior courses.*  More details are provided within The Handbook for Students and Parents which can be accessed using the tab below (pages 35-37).

*Example:  If seniors are enrolled in a junior health class, they are required to take the final exam no matter their final cumulative average.

Bus & Cafeteria Schedules

Buses will transport students to the high school at the usual times on exam days.  Buses will be at the high school at 12:15 PM on November 30, December 3, 4, to escort students home.

Parents are advised that students may leave school at 10:15 AM if they are not scheduled for an exam later in the day.  Students may also arrive at school at 10:00 AM on days when they are not scheduled for an earlier exam.  However, parents or students must provide their own transportation in these cases, since bus transportation will not be available at times other than those stated above.

As usual breakfast will be served in the dining and assembly hall before school.  In addition, grab & go sandwiches, pizza items and snacks will be sold during exam periods so students who are not scheduled for an exam during a particular period may eat if they so choose.  The same items will be served during the break between exams from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM.
