Important Information Discussed with Students in PAW Today

As many of you are aware, the FDA has recently referred to underage vaping as an epidemic. E-cigarettes contain either nicotine or THC/marijuana. Until recently, we have been unable to test the contents of these products. Due to this limitation, the consequences assigned for e-cigarette possession or use were the same as the consequences for tobacco. Now the school has access to a reliable test that will be used determine if the contents of an e-cigarette, pod, or dab pen contains THC/marijuana.

To ensure the entire student body is informed, there was a PAW meeting today to review this information that included definitions and consequences related to e-cigarette possession and use. We highlighted the significant differences between consequences for tobacco in contrast to those for THC/marijuana.

We encourage you to speak with your children about this important topic. For more detailed information about behavioral expectations and consequences, please refer to the Code of Conduct which can be found in The Handbook for Students and Parents and accessed through the button below.
