October 3, 2019 Dear Brown Families, We will be reminding students about the messages below, an additional reminder at home always helps. Lunch We are witnessing students purchasing a number of snacks without taking some of the healthy options that come with lunch. Fruit, salad, vegetables, and milk come with a purchased lunch at no additional cost. Safety Drill Yesterday we had an announced Safety Drill at Brown. All students and staff took the drill seriously and students followed the directions of the adults in charge. Scoliosis, Vision and Hearing Screenings The State of Connecticut and Madison Board of Education requires that students in grades 4 and 5 have vision and hearing screenings. If your child wears glasses, please be sure they bring their glasses to school. Vision and hearing screenings will start in October and are performed by the school nurse. Please feel free to call us with any questions at 203-245-6407. Thank you. Valerie Alberti, RN, BSN Lost and Found Our Lost and Found is growing. It is located in the back of the cafeteria. Students are leaving sweatshirts and jackets out at Recess on occasion. If you are missing any items have your child check the Lost and Found. Wednesday, October 9th No school in observance of Yom Kippur Halloween at Brown Yes, we will allow costumes at school on October 31st. I will send out details as the date draws closer. As Brown and Polson have done in the past, we will have a fun day and give to a great cause. We will ask students (and staff) who choose to dress up to donate $1.00. All proceeds go to support the Madison Food Pantry. The Pantry always appreciates our donation. More to come.
