Good Morning Ryerson Families,
By now, I am sure you have read the Superintendent's message regarding COVID-19. It is the recommendation of Governor Lamont that all towns and schools in Connecticut modify, postpone, or cancel gatherings of 100 people or more. Effective immediately, all after-school events and some non-essential "in-school" events, such as all-school assemblies, of 100 people or more will be postponed or canceled through April 30.
At Ryerson, the following school-wide evening events will be canceled:
- March 16th General PTO meeting has been canceled
- March 20th Ryerson Talent Show has been canceled
- April 1st Science Fair has been canceled.
At Ryerson, the following all-school assemblies and field experiences will be canceled:
- March 30th - CT. Science Center Assembly for K-1 will be canceled
- April 3rd - Unified Sports Pep Rally will be canceled
- April 3rd - CT Science Center Assembly for 2-3 will be canceled
- April 28th / April 29th - Grade 2 Field Experience to Bauer Park will be canceled
At this time, these are the upcoming events that will be canceled with no plans for them to be rescheduled. As we continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations from the CDC and state and local agencies, should things change; I will let you know. Events planned for May and June will be reviewed at the end of April and the decision as to whether these events will occur for our students and learning community will be communicated to you in a timely manner.
Our number one priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and all those within our learning community. We continue to practice the following steps each day to keep us healthy and well-protected at Ryerson:
- All students begin their day washing their hands during their morning routine/work time
- All students are required to wash their hands prior to snack and using the restroom
- All students are to wash their hands and/or use hand sanitizer prior to eating lunch
- All working surfaces are cleaned daily in each classroom
Sincerely,
Kelly K. Spooner
