March 18, 2020 Update from the Principal Good afternoon,
The March 17, 2020, message from the Superintendent detailed the options under consideration due to the school closure. More specifically, the communication discussed the plan for short-term and long-term school closures as well as program development for distance/online learning. After speaking with the DHHS music teachers, we agreed that it is imperative that all students in band or orchestra have their instruments at home to support the success of distance/online learning. As a result, instruments will be available for pick up at Daniel Hand High School on Friday, March 20, 2020. Please note the expectations regarding pick up that are detailed below.
Additionally, the following excerpt was included in the March 17, 2020 Message from the Superintendent regarding technology:
Technology: The school district has posted interim learning opportunities during this short-term closure window. These are district activities on our website to keep students engaged in learning during this unprecedented break from school. If your family does not have a way to access these online resources, please contact your child's building principal so that we can support your family during this extraordinary time. This offer of support would continue in the event of a long-term school closure.
All freshman and sophomores have a district issued Chromebook. Parents/guardians of juniors or seniors, or juniors or seniors themselves should contact me as soon as possible and no later than Friday, March 20, 2020 if you do not have a way to access online resources. Feel free to email me through the Contact the Principal button below or call 203.245.6350 if email is not a possibility.
Stay healthy.
Mr. Salutari
