March 22, 2020 Dear Ryerson Families, I trust this email finds everyone healthy and safe. This is certainly an unprecedented period in our history and it remains difficult now to comprehend the magnitude of this crisis for our families, our community and our world. Although at one time unimaginable, this crisis is before us and we will prevail. Our community, our neighborhoods and nation are taking the needed steps to flatten the curve and protect us.
As a district, this past week has been a busy yet, inspiring time both as an educator and parent. Our staff is simply amazing! Teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to formulate a comprehensive plan for our students to remain engaged academically and for our students to remain connected to our teachers. This online/digital plan is anticipated to go live for students on Monday, March 30th. In the interim, I encourage all families to access the short-term optional resources and materials on the Madison Public School's webpage. These resources are rich with engaging and interesting activities and links for students to remain educationally connected and are useful to formulating a routine for students at home. Most importantly, during this time prior to the launch of an online learning platform, be sure you are reading to your child and your child is reading independently!
As the Superintendent shared in prior messages, if your family does not have a way to access these online resources, please contact me so that we can support your family during this extraordinary time.
As always, I am accessible to address your questions and concerns moving forward during this time either by email or leaving me a message at 203-245-6440. Although, it has only been one week; the building has fallen silent and the sounds of student laughter is sorely missed. This has been sudden and too soon; but I remain positive as I collaborate with the finest educators who are preparing for our young learners to remain engaged in the work that when we come together again we will reunite stronger as a learning community!
Although it is my hope that our learning community returns to normalcy sooner than later, in the interim, I will be posting videos on our Ryerson facebook page and website to remain connected with our students and community beginning the week of March 30th! As an educator who loves to read, I can't wait to share my favorite stories with our students. I wish you all the best during this time. Stay healthy and stay safe!
Sincerely,
Ryerson Elementary School 982 Durham Road • Madison, CT 06443 • (203) 245-6440 |
