April 1. 2020 Dear Brown Families, Yesterday I sent out a "Schedule" that outlined a 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. school day for Brown students. I want to clarify, students are not expected to be online and in class from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. I needed to create a schedule so when teachers have "Live Sessions" with students we did not have conflicts. Next week there will be 1 Live Session for the week per class, and the following week until the end of Distance Learning there will be 2 per week. But, even if a student is not available for the scheduled "Live Session", that is fine. All sessions are taped and if a student wants to watch it later it is available.
The purpose of the Live Sessions is for teachers to connect with students. These may come in the form of a Morning Meeting, Mini-Lesson, or a Q and A for students. Additionally, they will not be 30 minutes in length as the schedule indicates. I wanted to give teachers a 30 minute window in case more time is needed.
I want to thank the parents who followed up with me after the "Schedule" was sent out. Our communication, teamwork, and partnership has never been more important.
Thanks, Frank
