Good Morning!
Looks like we have a rainy, cozy day ahead of us! I thought I would take time this morning to provide you with a few updates.
- Next week, school will be closed for Spring Break. Our families have all been working so hard to keep the children's education going (and for that, we thank YOU!), so I hope you are able to take some time next week to unplug and unwind from school work.
- Packet and material pick up for the week after break (May 11-15) will be available any time after 2 PM tomorrow. The materials will remain in the bins throughout next week, so please come at a time that works for you.
- At this time, there is still no official word confirming whether we will or will not be returning to school this year. There has also been no communication on when or what it will look like when school resumes in late August. Please know that as soon as the district receives updates on either of these items, we will be sure to pass that information along to you.
- Important Update for our Kindergarten and Grade 1 Families ONLY: We appreciate the feedback that you have been providing us. Many of you have asked for an increase in activities that students can practice independently. In an effort to do just that, beginning with the week of May 11-15, all Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will have an opportunity to use a handwriting workbook. This will be an important opportunity to ensure that students are getting a pencil in their hand and working on fine motor skills. This is not a resource that we usually use in Madison, but we feel will be an important component to distance learning. The daily assignments have been added to the modules. You will be receiving a message from your child's teacher and an email from "Learning Without Tears" in your inbox that will invite you to use some OPTIONAL online tools. Below is a link to a video that will walk you through the steps to opening the email and getting started.
Learning Without Tears
Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.
I think that's all for now.
Please remember I am here to help with any questions you may continue to have. At Jeffrey, we continue to work with families to ensure that the work expectations are manageable and appropriate for each individual household and their unique circumstances.
Please be on the look-out for additional information regarding the formatting and content of the Trimester III report card later this week.
In partnership,
Becky
