May 1, 2020 Report Cards & A Few Other Things May 1, 2020
Dear Ryerson Families,
Today concludes Week Five of Distance Learning and the beginning of our Spring Break Week! I am sure all of you are ready for a break from teaching and to take one item "off your plate" temporarily. I do hope the weather cooperates and we are able to enjoy the sunshine and outdoor activities.
Next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week. I know you all join me in recognizing and appreciating our talented staff at Ryerson Elementary School. Our teachers make Ryerson Elementary School the success that it is. Their dedication and commitment to our students has been unrelenting especially during this unprecedented time. I am very appreciative of them and know that our school community and district is fortunate to have them impacting our students and our future.
I would also like to thank all of our Ryerson Parents. During this time, all parents have returned to being their child's primary teacher. Family partnership, commitment and support have been so important to the success of our Distance Learning program and to your child's continuous academic progress. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed! We are so appreciative of your support. Your children are so fortunate to have you as their teacher right now!
As the Superintendent shared in his communication regarding Trimester III report cards, the elementary report card for the third trimester will be in a narrative format. K-3 students will receive a narrative report with core areas listing student feedback from the classroom teacher and summer goals from the trimester. If you have specific questions regarding this format for the third trimester, please reach out to me to discuss further at 203-245-6440.
At this time, I would like to share a few reminders regarding Distance Learning for next week and the week of May 11th. There are no student packets to pick up today. Families can drop off student work for Week Five to the school today and throughout next week. However, there will be no packets to pick up until Friday, May 8th.
On Friday, May 8th the packets for Week Six will be available after 10:00 a.m. The Week Six packets will be available on the 8th and throughout the weekend.
The Library Bin will be accepting books all next week! Please drop off those library books. We appreciate your attention with this request.
As always, our Ryerson team is here to support you and your family. If you have any issues or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at 203-245-6440 or at spoonerk@madison.k12.ct.us
Stay healthy! Stay safe!
All my best,
Kelly K. Spooner
