June 18, 2020 Goodbye Distance Learning, Hello Summer! June 18, 2020
Dear Ryerson Families,
School is out and summer vacation starts! I thank you all for everything you have done to support this final trimester of learning virtually. It has been an unprecedented time filled with unexpected turns, surreal moments and many "firsts" along the way! However, through it all our learning community focused on what we could – the children. It is this focus that has enabled our children to continue to progress and learn. Kudos to you all for your fortitude and your partnership. I wish you all the happiness, joy and good health during this summer break.
If you have not picked up your child's school belongings, please do so as soon as possible. These bags are labeled and located in the front of the building. Student work completed for Week 11 may be dropped off in the "Drop-off" bin today and throughout the weekend. Lastly, I would ask that if you have a library book that it be returned to the school.
A reminder, if you borrowed a Chromebook during Distance Learning, the district will be collecting these devices on Monday, June 22nd from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at DHHS.
I would like to wish our third grade students a final farewell! I know this cohort of young learners will find great success at Brown School. I encourage all of our third graders to embrace this new transition and to seek out new opportunities for fun and learning in their new school.
Finally, I would like to thank our Ryerson teachers and staff. In March, we were charged with creating a virtual platform for learning. This was a task with no prior "playbook" or guide to reference. Although the task was monumental, our staff seized the challenge and ensured the learning for students would not be interrupted. Through virtual meetings, check-ins, and within each module created; our teachers showed their commitment and dedication. I am so proud of their efforts and I know you all join me in thanking them and wishing them a most restful summer break.
Ryerson families, have a great summer! Enjoy your time with family. I wish you all continued health and happiness.
