November 24, 2020 Hello Polson Families,
I hope this note finds you well and looking forward to the holidays, as different as they may be. Here are a few updates from school: Holiday Travel: Madison Public Schools follows the State order for Travel Restrictions which requires people entering Connecticut from a Red state to either quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Connecticut or provide the state DHP (and MPS) a copy of a negative molecular PCR test obtained within 72 hours or any time after arrival in Connecticut. The traveler must quarantine until the negative test result is obtained. Please let me know your plans to return so we can plan accordingly for any students who are traveling out of state. Winter Coats: The cold weather is upon us, and even though we are not using lockers this year, we do want students to wear coats to school, not only for waiting at the bus stop but for our short mask breaks, which we plan to continue. Students will be able to leave coats in their homerooms so they don't have to carry them throughout the day. Absences: Students who are out of the school building for non-COVID related illnesses are marked absent. If they feel well enough to attend classes remotely, we're happy to have them if a live session is already in place; however, because we need an accurate record of what students are in the building, they will be marked absent. Students who are full distance learners or quarantining as close contacts are expected to attend classes remotely and will be marked absent when they do not attend classes online. Trimester One: Trimester one ends December 4, and some students have missing work that will affect their grade. Please encourage your child to check Infinite Campus for a progress update, reach out to their teachers to make a plan for making up missed assignments, and stay focused this week and next to complete all their work. We want everyone to end the trimester on a positive note and with an accurate reflection of what they know and are able to do. Earbuds: Students are asked to have earbuds for class. We have found that some apps do not allow connection to Apple airpods; therefore, please have a back up pair available, if possible. Wrestling Room Dedication: Many of you may remember that the Polson community lost a beloved teacher and coach in March. Last night, we were honored to dedicate the Polson Wrestling Room in name of Coach D, Mr. Dave D'Alessio. You can view the dedication ceremony here! Thank you for all that you are doing to keep our Polson community safe and operating as one family, even though some of us are apart. We wish you and your family a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
