April 29, 2021 Dear Grade 5 Families,
I hope all is well as we enter the month of May. This week I took the time to have Grade Level Meetings with students in each grade. I started each meeting by thanking them for their commitment to doing everything we have asked of them in terms of masks, cohorting, seating, etc. We really do appreciate these young people.
To keep you in the loop, I want to share with you some of the things we talked about and provide you with some Brown updates as we head into the final 6+ weeks of school.
Please know, with all of these modifications to our life at Brown, students are required to wear masks and encouraged to wash hands as much as possible.
Recess: Earlier in the week I shared with students that they are allowed to self select areas outside for Recess. They are no longer assigned areas by Team.
In person visit to Polson: On May 25th, Teams 5-1 and 5-3 will visit Polson, and on May 27th, Teams 5-2 and 5-4 will visit. Details will follow as the dates get closer.
Core classroom movement: Starting Wednesday, May 5th, students will move to a different Core classroom for the afternoon. Desks will be cleaned at the end of the morning session and again at the end of the day. This practice has been going on at Polson and Hand. This will assist students as they transition to Polson.
Lockers: I shared with our Grade 5 students that I am looking to assign them a locker for the final weeks of school. They were so excited. Over the past 2 days, we have mapped out the lockers to assure appropriate space between assigned lockers. We are only doing this in Grade 5, so we have plenty of lockers and plenty of room.
End of Year Activities: I am working with school personnel and our PTO to design a Grade 5 Celebration the last week of school. Details to follow, but I assure you it will be on campus with no outside visitors.
Again, we really appreciate these young people, and we are also grateful for all of your support.
As always, do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the Brown Team for assistance.
Thanks, Frank
