June 13, 2021 Hello Polson families,
We are writing to let you know that, based on the consistently inclement weather forecast, we have decided to move our grade 8 promotion celebration to the Driving Option. We do not make this decision lightly, as we had hoped to celebrate all together on the front field. However, the forecast shows 60% chance of rain starting in the early morning and continuing throughout the hours of the celebration. We know from past experience that this rain plan still will be a positive way to celebrate and congratulate our students.
Cars will line up around the back of Polson by the cafeteria where they will be directed to proceed to the front of the building in shifts. There, your eighth grader's name will be announced to cheers from their teachers. They can exit the car, walk into our celebration tent to receive their promotion certificate, and even get a quick photo from families in the car. Team 8-1's procession will begin at 9:00 with 8-2 starting at 9:30. There is no particular order of cars within the teams. Please enter through the DHHS driveway, and exit through the Polson driveway in order to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I will not be able to attend the celebrations with the students tomorrow. We are thrilled that Superintendent Dr. Craig Cooke will be there to present the certificates along with Assistant Principal Martha Curran and grade 8 Counselor Chris Perras. If students are comfortable, they are invited to shake hands with Dr. Cooke before joining their family again. We encourage you to cheer, bring balloons or posters, and celebrate with your child, and we will do our best to make it a memorable experience for them.
Despite the change, we are excited to celebrate our students tomorrow morning and look forward to continuing the fun at the dance tomorrow night, starting at 7 PM in the Polson gym. In the meantime, congratulations to all of our eighth grade families. Completing middle school is a significant achievement and one of which the whole family should be proud!
