Dear Brown Families, Happy New Year! As we welcome students and staff back to start the New Year, we continue to prioritize the health of our school communities and the importance of safely keeping our schools open. As we return to school tomorrow, we wanted to share some of the additional mitigation strategies we are putting in place at Brown School. In an effort to keep students and staff safe, we are: - Requiring all students and staff to wear masks properly while in the building. (Mask breaks will continue to be provided.)
- Desks in all classrooms/learning spaces will continue to be at least 3 feet apart.
- We will continue to stagger lunch/recess waves so only half the grade will be in the cafeteria while the other half is at recess.
- Shields will continue to be in place in the cafeteria. We will continue to limit 4 students per table. If the weather allows, students will eat outside.
- Indoor recess will be in the classrooms.
- During outdoor recess we will ask students to wear masks when playing close to each other as we did last year. Students will be able to take off masks when they are walking around or playing catch, etc.
- Masks should be worn on the bus at all times.
- No visitors will be allowed in the building during the school day.
Families play an important role in these efforts. As the district has shared, please keep students home if they are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. Common symptoms include: - Fever
- Coughing
- Difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle, body, or headaches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea/vomiting and diarrhea
Please inform the school nurse if your child has been diagnosed with Covid-19. Also, as more children have received vaccinations, please inform the school health office and send in proof of vaccination. We thank you for your cooperation and again, appreciate your understanding as we work through the challenges of this school year with optimism and dedication. Thanks, Frank |
