DHHS UPDATES
Good afternoon Daniel Hand High School community:
Changing Guidance for Masks in Schools
As Dr. Cooke shared in the last two weekly updates, Madison Public Schools will transition from a "Mask Required" to a "Mask Recommended" model effective Monday, February 28, 2022. This means that beginning Monday, February 28, 2022, staff and students will no longer be required to wear a mask in school or during athletics. As we prepare for this significant move away from the statewide mask mandate, I would like to take the opportunity to share the following with all members of our school community. All school community members are free to make their own individual decision whether or not to wear a mask in the school setting. Considering these decisions are personal in nature, no one should be asked to explain their decision and no member of our school community should be pressured in any way for the decision they have made. It is worth mentioning that anyone could change their decision at any time and for any reason. I have been highly impressed with the efforts of our staff and students this year. These efforts have supported a safe school environment and have allowed all of us to experience a school year that has been very close to normal. I do not anticipate this change in the mask mandate to have any negative impact on our school community. I encourage families to discuss this topic over the weekend.
