Hello Grade 8 Families,
We would like to share some information about our upcoming Grade 8 Promotion Ceremony on Thursday, June 16.
Student and Family Arrival
• The event begins on our front field at 9 AM.
• Eighth graders should come to school with their parents and leave with parents after the ceremony.
• If, for some reason, your child cannot leave with you, they may stay at school and follow their normal schedule of classes for the remainder of the day.
Seating
Families and friends will gather on the front field. Be sure to bring chairs, blankets, or whatever you would like to enjoy the event. Signs and noisemakers are welcomed.
Parking
You may park anywhere in the front of the building, along the side, or in the back. Please do not park on the field.
Photos
Students will be called alphabetically by homeroom with 8-1 going first and 8-2 following that. Students will come up on stage, cross it to accept their certificate from Mrs. Hart and Mrs. Kilian, then exit on the opposite side. There will be a space blocked off for you to take a photo before returning to your seat.
Attire
The atmosphere for the event is celebratory but casual, so students may wear whatever they like, as long as it is appropriate for a school event. Some choose to be a bit dressed up, but remember that they will be sitting on the field with you and crossing the grass to get to the stage.
Siblings
If there is a sibling in grade 6 or 7 that you would like to join you, please follow these guidelines:
• If the sibling will arrive with you at 9, attend the ceremony, and go home with you, please call the office so we know the student will not be in the building.
• If the sibling will arrive at their normal time but leave the building to watch the ceremony at 9, please call the main office and we will send your child out. We will know they are with you for the remainder of the day unless they sign back into the office after the ceremony.
In the Event of Rain
The weather looks good for Thursday, but if it rains, we will hold the promotion celebration on Friday. All other details remain the same.
Yearbooks
If your eighth grader did not purchase a yearbook earlier in the year, they will have an opportunity to purchase one on Wednesday morning while supplies last. The cost is $42 and checks should be made out to Polson Middle School.
Looking forward to a wonderful day!
