Good Morning Polson Families!
Reminder:
There is no school on Wednesday, October 5 and on Monday, October 10.
Conferences
Polson will hold parent conferences on October 19 and 20. These will be early release days for students (noon dismissal) and conferences will take place in person from 12:15 to 2:45 each day. Parents will be able to sign up with core and world language teachers via Google Calendar in a link that will be sent this week. To meet with a related arts teacher on these days, please reach out to them directly to arrange a meeting time.
So that we can accommodate as many parents as possible, we ask that you sign up with only one core teacher. Those who sign up for more than one will be notified by the team which teacher they will be able to see.
Have you had a meeting with teachers already this year? A PPT? A 504? If so, consider not taking a conference slot so that others may meet one of their child's teachers. As always, parents are encouraged to reach out to team leaders to arrange a meeting any time during the year. Additional conference dates at Polson are scheduled for February 8 and 9.
Alternative High school visits for 8th graders
The Middletown Vocational Agriculture school is coming to present to ALL 8th grade students on October 13th about their program which includes a focus on plant and animal science, agricultural mechanics, aquaculture, natural resources and the environment. The Sound School will meet with students interested in marine science, aquaculture or nautical drafting on October 12th, and ECA (The Education Center for the Arts in New Haven) will be here on October 6th to talk to interested students about their program for the arts. Students can see Ms. Doane with any questions, and parents can reach out to her at doanec@madison.k12.ct.us. There will be announcements and sign ups for these two schools.
Author Visit - Tommy Greenwald
We will welcome Nutmeg-nominated author, Tommy Greenwald, as a guest speaker for all grade levels on October 26. If you are interested in purchasing your own copy of one of his books, please fill out the attached order form and bring to the LMC. He will also be doing a signing after his presentation!
