Dear Jeffrey Families,
Happy Wednesday! A reminder that we will dismiss at 1 PM today and tomorrow for conferences.
Friday we will have our first Jeffrey School Spirit Day! Please join us in wearing our black and gold to celebrate the fact that Special Olympics Connecticut has announced that Jeffrey Elementary School, a Special Olympics Unified Champion School, is receiving national banner recognition for its efforts to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without disabilities. Jeffrey School is receiving this honor as a result of meeting national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy and respect. An award presentation will take place at the school on Friday, October 21. The Daniel Hand High School marching band and cheerleaders will be on hand to help with the celebration.
Jeffrey School will be amongst a select number of schools to receive this distinction. We will be presented with a banner to hang in our school and be included on a list of other schools around the country who have achieved this distinguished status.
A Special Olympics Unified Champion School has an inclusive school climate and exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement, and respect for all members of the student body and staff. Jeffrey School is proud of its efforts to promote inclusion, kindness, and equity. Special recognition should also be given to Jeffrey special education teacher, Mrs. Lisa Aronson, who is our lead teacher in this important work. Go tigers!
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Becky Frost
