Dear Brown Families, Halloween is Monday, October 31st. I know the costume discussion has been going on for weeks at home and final costume decisions are being made! We want Halloween at Brown to be a fun day for kids and a meaningful and supportive day for the Madison community. So we are continuing the tradition of Wear a costume to school and pay $1.00 (totally voluntary). All money raised goes to the Madison Food Pantry to help stock their shelves. The Madison Food Pantry really appreciates our donation! Below are the costume guidelines that we will share with students, and that I know you will support at home in preparation for Halloween at Brown: - No masks, face paint, accessories (shields, swords, etc...) or parts that cause distractions (flashing lights, siren noises, large costume parts etc...).
- No violent or inappropriate themes (please feel free to contact me or Eliza Hayes if you have questions about a particular costume).
- Students need to be able to sit and speak comfortably in any costume. Remember, students will be in these outfits all day. There will be no changing in and out of costumes.
- Hats are allowed.
Reminder: Students will be participating in a normal student day – including physical activities such as recess. If students are wearing the same costume for evening, fragile components might be damaged in the course of a normal school day, so please consider leaving those items at home. Additionally, if your child does not want to wear a costume, please encourage them to wear black and orange clothing as part of our spirit day at Brown. Please remember that this is strictly voluntary for students. We completely support student and family decisions related to costumes. Although October 31st is Halloween, it is also a regular school day. Thanks, Frank |
