Mrs. Spooner's Friday Update |
Dear Ryerson Families, It is hard to believe this weekend is the final weekend in January. The month of January has flown by! This week, our students had a great opportunity to participate in an all-school assembly to learn about the Lunar New Year Celebration. This assembly was a fun and informative presentation facilitated by two of our KHR teachers, Mrs. Rene Chin and Mrs. Maly-Bingham. We are very grateful for these two teachers to share this celebration with our students. The 100th day of school is Friday, February 3rd. Each grade level has some fun activities planned to celebrate this milestone. As a KHR community, we are recognizing this milestone with "Penny Wars!" Each grade level will compete amongst one another to collect the most money by the end of February. The grade level that collects the most money will select their "Charity of Choice" to donate the winnings to. There will be more detailed information being sent home today in your child's backpack regarding this competition. Most important first step, get those pennies collected and send them into Ryerson! Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th. Hopefully, at this point, you have secured a meeting with your child's teacher. These are early dismissal days for students. Student dismissal is at 1:00 pm. Please plan accordingly for your child's early release day. Once again, this year, Ryerson Elementary School will celebrate Kindness Week during the week of February 13th. Our plan for the week will be: . |
| It's PJ Day! Wear your favorite pajamas. Kindness starts with us. Practice mindfulness and think of one thing you're thankful for. Post it on our KHR "Random Acts of Kindness" Wall. |
| Wear Red today! Complete a Random Act of Kindness for a new friend, post a picture or write about a "random act of kindness" you did this week. Post it on the KHR RAK wall. |
| Wear Blue today! Kindness is cool. So, be cool and say something kind to a family member, help clean up at home and school to show your kindness. |
| Show your Tiger Pride! Wear Black and Gold or your Madison pride gear. Post a positive comment on the RAK wall to encourage your friends and teachers on the hill. |
| Wear Green today! Brighten 3 friends and 3 school staff member's day with a compliment. |

Just a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st in observance of the MPS Winter Break. School resumes for all staff and students on Wednesday, February 22nd. The final week of February will kick off "Connecticut Loves to Read" week. We look forward to sharing all the fun plans for this week very soon. As you can see, the upcoming month is packed with great learning and fun. If you have any questions regarding these plans, please let me know. I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
