Dear Jeffrey Families, Thank you for your time at parent-teacher conferences last week. We always appreciate your collaboration. It is exciting to see the progress our students are making as we enter the second half of the school year. This week at Jeffrey, to celebrate Valentine's Day, all Jeffrey Students will be participating in "Cool to Care Week!" Organized by our 3rd grade Student Kindness Team, this week, students will learn the impact that simple acts of kindness can have on others and even themselves. Activities this week include: - Creation of a whole school Kindness Chain! Each classroom had strips of construction paper distributed to them to write acts of kindness they have done or have had done for them. These will go to the main office where a paper chain will be formed and we will see how far around Jeffrey our kindness can reach. We are already past the health office!
- 2nd & 3rd grade classes will play Kindness BINGO all week long.
- Tomorrow, in addition to being Valentine's Day we are designating this as "Be Kind to Ourselves Day!" It will be a school-wide Pajama Day! Wear your jammmies tomorrow! During morning meeting or quiet time students will participate in mindfulness or yoga activities.
- Classes will meet with their buddy classes and partner up on Wednesday to write notes of appreciation to someone who has been kind to them at school (staff or student). Thank you to our PTO for purchasing nice thank you cards for students to use.
- We will have our 2nd Whole School Read Aloud on Thursday:
- Grades K-1 will read the book: Say Hello
- Grades 2-3 will read the book: The Name Jar
- Finally, on Friday, each class will work together to decorate their door in our kindness theme. Pictures to come!
With so many kind students in our school, this is sure to be an extra special week! A reminder that there is NO SCHOOL Monday and Tuesday for the long, February weekend. Take care, -Becky Frost Jeffrey School Principal Madison, CT 203-245-6460 TIGER PRIDE! |
