Mrs. Spooner's Friday Update |
Dear Ryerson Families, There was loads of literary fun here on the hill this week! The Magic of Books assembly kicked off the week and from there, it was energizing throughout the hallways and classrooms as students delved deeper into a variety of genres, authors and characters. My favorite part of the week was this morning. Our entire learning community "dropped everything and read" together. The hallways and pods were filled with our students reading independently or sharing a good book together! Our March Book Madness continues next week. I encourage you to ask your child about this fun book competition being held on the hill. Similar to the "March Basketball Madness", our KHR students listen and watch two books read by a KHR staff member and vote on the "winner" for the day. The winning book proceeds to the next bracket with a final winner to be announced next week. I want to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Perry, our Library Media Specialist and all the teachers and staff members at KHR for participating in the March Book Madness and for creating such a wonderful week for our students. This "March Madness" event is the highlight of the week for all of us on the hill! It is one of those traditions at KHR that makes our school so special! A few reminders for our school community this month: - Friday, March 10th - No school for students
- Friday, March 17th - School Store
- Tuesday, March 21st - Trimester II report cards will be accessible on Infinite Campus
- Monday, March 27th - General PTO meeting at 7:00 pm. Dr. Cooke will be presenting the 2023-2024 MPS Educational Budget at this meeting and addressing any of your questions related to the budget.
Our next school spirit day will be held on Friday, March 17th. Students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing GREEN from head to toe! I wish you all a wonderful weekend. If you have any questions, concerns, and/or suggestions; please feel free to reach out to me at 203-245-6440 or at spoonerk@madison.k12.ct.us Sincerely, Kelly K. Spooner |
