Due to the Junior Pre-Prom Assembly, Advisory and Wellness Wednesday will not be scheduled next week.
NGSS
All grade 11 students will participate in the Next Generation Science Standards (N.G.S.S.) Assessment on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
Grade 11 students must arrive to DHHS by 7:20 a.m. on test day.
Grade 9, 10 and 12 students will follow a 2-hour delay schedule on test day.
- Period 1 9:25 a.m. 10:07 a.m.
- Period 2 10:11 a.m. 10:53 a.m.
- Period 3A 10:57 a.m. 11:18 a.m.
- Period 3B 11:18 a.m. 11:39 a.m.
- Period 4A 11:43 a.m. 12:04 p.m.
- Period 4B 12:04 p.m. 12:25 p.m.
- Period 5A 12:29 p.m. 12:50 p.m.

Additional details regarding the N.G.S.S. Assessment will be sent to all grade 11 students and their parents/guardians in the coming weeks. Class of 2023 Independent Project — A Read-to-Grow Book Drive
One of our current seniors is running a book drive from May 15th to May 26th in order to collect new or slightly read books. All books collected will be donated to Read to Grow, a nonprofit organization based in Branford that distributes books to school-aged children all across the state. Stay tuned for more announcements coming soon, and be sure to check for books you can donate in the meantime.
Trimester 3 Exam Schedule
Trimester Three Exams for students in grades nine, ten, and eleven are scheduled on the following dates:
- June 9th – Periods 1 and 2
- June 12th – Periods 3 and 4
- June 13th – Periods 5 and 6
- June 14th – Makeup Exam Day
Detailed below is the time schedule that will be followed on June 9th, 12th, and 13th.
- Exam Period 7:25 - 9:20 a.m.
- Break 9:20 - 9:35 a.m.
- Exam Period 9:35 - 11:30 a.m.
Class of 2024-Board of Education Student Representative – Reminder
Members of the Class of 2025, please review the email sent on Monday, May 1, 2023 that details the opportunity for any interested sophomore to apply to be the next Board of Education Student Representative. The application must be submitted electronically to Mr. Bodner no later than 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Presentation by NICU Nurse - Wednesday, May 17, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in The Career Center
All students are welcomed to join GAINS for a behind-the-scenes look at the growing field of nursing/medical careers. Mrs. Jen Papa, a NICU nurse, is back by popular demand to discuss her work with premature babies in a hospital Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She will also share her academic journey into this field and offer insights to those thinking of going into medicine.
Presentation by Yale Art Restoration Scientist - Thursday May 25, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. room 226
All students are welcomed to join the GAINS Club for a presentation by Dr. Marcie Wiggins, a Conservation Scientist in the Technical Studies Lab working on material characterization for all of Yale's art collections. After earning her BS in chemistry and art history at the University of Maryland-College Park in 2014, she received her PhD in analytical chemistry at the University of Delaware in 2019 studying copper-based pigments via spectroscopic methods. Dr. Wiggins has held internships at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian's Museum Conservation Institute, and the Rijksmuseum. She did her Postdoc work focused on large scan x-ray fluorescence mapping and data processing. Dr. Wiggins will share some of her exciting findings in chemical analysis of ancient art, and discuss her interdisciplinary work in the fields of chemistry and art.
