CT Orthopaedics Partnership

Daniel Hand Athletics has a sports medicine partnership with Dr. Stephen Maier, the official Orthopedic Physician for Daniel Hand. Dr. Maier is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine with extensive experience caring for athletes, including prior work with collegiate and professional sports programs.

This partnership provides Daniel Hand student-athletes and families with an additional resource when a sports-related injury may require evaluation by a sports medicine physician. Families who would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Maier may contact the medical assistant at 203-407-3522 and explain that they have a Daniel Hand student-athlete who needs to be seen by Dr. Maier. The turnaround for an appointment is usually within a few days of the injury. 

This resource is available to help families access timely sports medicine care when needed.  Families may continue to use their own physician or medical provider. Regardless of the provider selected, all school return-to-play requirements and medical-clearance procedures must still be followed before a student-athlete resumes participation.
