DHHS Baseball Families,
I hope all is well with you and your family. I am so, so happy that our baseball season is right around the corner! Personally, I have missed being around these players more than I can explain and I am so excited to let our baseball tigers out of their cage! Here is some important information that you might find helpful as we get ready to begin our 2021 season:
Registration and Medical Clearance:
All players need to register for baseball with the DHHS athletic department. You must have an updated physical. If you have not registered or have not had a physical approved by the school nurse, you will not be allowed to participate at tryouts. Please double-check with the school to make sure you are all set.
Pitchers and Catchers Week:
Baseball is unique because we are allowed to begin a week earlier than other spring sports. This extra week is called pitchers and catchers week. It will run from March 20th-26th. However, the CIAC makes very specific rules about the number of participants that are allowed to be invited (15 total players). These players will be invited and notified by Friday, March 5th. All other players should be using this week to condition and prepare for the upcoming tryout.
Tryouts will will be held on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th. On March 27th, our defensive tryout will be at the Surf Club. On March 28th, our offensive tryout will be at Polson. Time slots are to be determined and will be communicated at least a week ahead of the tryouts.
Please note: Our tryout window may continue during the week of of March 29th-April 2nd. Once roster decisions are made, players will be notified by the coaching staff with an in-person meeting.
Please know that practices and games will be scheduled during April vacation. Players should plan their schedules accordingly and should be available for all baseball activities. If there are extenuating circumstances, players should notify the coaches ahead of time.
Partnership with MLL:
We are going to establish a powerful connection with Madison Little League this spring. There will be ample opportunities for all of our players to engage with the MLL community and become mentors to the younger players and the future of our program.
Here are some other important dates:
Saturday, March 27th & Sunday, March 28th – Tryouts for all players
Monday, March 29th-Friday, April 9th - Spring Training
Week of March 29th-April 2nd - All players will be notified about their roster spot by coaching staff

April 10th-May 25th - Approximate dates for the regular season for Freshmen, JV, and Varsity levels

Please let me know if I can help you with anything or answer any questions for you between now and the beginning of our season.
Sincerely and with Kind Regards,
Coach LaPointe and the DHHS Baseball Coaching Staff
