DHHS AP Statistic Students Learn a Lesson and Solve a Mystery

As part of their unit on least-squares regression, students in DHHS AP Statistics classes worked as detectives to solve a mystery; who had been stealing cookies from the math department office?  Students took measurements to determine the correlation between their hand widths and heights and then applied this relationship to analyze the forensic evidence (a handprint that the thief left behind).

Who stole the cookies – Mr. Buller? Mrs. McGrimley?  Mrs. Persson?”
