DHHS Band Sends Message of Support to Oxford High School

Recently the local chapter of the American School Band Director’s Association (of which Hand is a member) reached out to the Oxford, Michigan music teachers, offering support for their community in the wake of the recent school shooting.

The Oxford High School Performing Arts Staff responded saying they were overwhelmed with the messages of support and said all they needed at this time was for their students to know that they “supported and loved”. They asked for ensembles around the country to share videos of themselves playing the OHS fight song – a song that is very unique as it was written specifically for Oxford by an OHS student.

The DHHS band immediately took up the challenge and last week recorded a video of themselves playing the Oxford High School fight song and sent it to their music department. Director of Bands Mr. Gage said the video is blurry and the tempo of the song isn’t prefect but that the message of unity and support comes through loud and clear.
