DHHS German Exchange Program

For two weeks in October 2023, 20 German girls from Freiburg, Germany lived with host families in Madison and had the chance to experience American life firsthand. Students attended classes at Daniel Hand High School, explored the local area, took trips to nearby cities and cultural attractions, and immersed themselves in American culture.

This unique experience was organized by DHHS teacher Martin Glasser. He said the greatest benefit of participating in a student exchange program between American and German students is the opportunity to experience a different culture and language firsthand. Additionally, the students were able to make lasting friendships with people from different backgrounds and gain invaluable life experience.

Madison students have the opportunity to spend time in Germany over the 2024 summer. They will live with German families and learn about the culture, customs, and language of Germany.
