DHHS Students Attend Talking Science Program
On January 10th, three DHHS students braved the rain and cold to attend the annual Talking Science program held at the prestigious Rockefeller University in New York City. This year’s presentation was entitled “The Secret Songs of Dolphins: Decoding Their Mysterious Underwater Conversations.”A neuro-physicist shared his experimental and computational methods used to study dolphin communication and cognition. This work involves extensive data analysis efforts as well as fieldwork to develop novel acquisition techniques.
After the presentation, students explored interactive demonstrations, talked to graduate students about career/college advice, and participated in an informal Q & A session with the scientist.
