Hand Holds Special Wellness Wednesday
On May 25, the DHHS community enjoyed a one-hour Wellness Wednesday. Students earned the extra-long wellness event thanks to their recent fundraising efforts to support various class events.
During the hour, students spent time playing games on the turf – spike ball, corn hole, flag football – music was playing – some students used the time to sit, relax and catch up with their friends. Madison Youth and Family Services attended the event and spent time talking with students. Positive affirmation stickers were handed out and students wrote their own works of affirmation on a large poster that will hang in the school.
In addition, in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the Helping Hands Hallways sponsored a Mental Health Matters Walk around the track.
DHHS Administrators said the timing for this 1-hour wellness event could not have come at a better time in light of the recent tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Texas. It was a great opportunity to check-in with one another, support one another and just all be together as a school community.
