Spanish Club Celebrates Dia de los Muertos

Spanish Club participated in a cultural celebration of Día de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd that honors those who have passed. Although this holiday originates in Mexico, it is also celebrated in other countries around the world. Students decorated bulletin boards and filled a display case with calaveras, banners, candles, and other festive cultural decorations that in turn helped to share the celebration with other students. Spanish Club had a fiesta where students colored in paper calaveras, and ate traditional Mexican food such as pan de muerto, tamales, and pozole and even drank champurrada, a Mexican hot chocolate! All food was provided by Isabel’s Bakery in Milford, CT. Students enjoyed participating in this cultural event and sharing with others.
