Students & SRO Work on Police-Community Relations Project

School Resource Officer Ernesto Gonzalez recently visited the Introduction to Human Behavior class and joined students working on a Police-Community Relations project at the end of the social psychology unit.  He came in to meet with each small group as they did their research.  It was an opportunity for him to provide an officer's perspective and share his knowledge, while simultaneously getting to know some of the students. He came back again when they presented their plans, providing clarification, alternate perspectives, and insights for the class.

Police-Community Relations Project

Objective/Goal:
As a group, you will evaluate the dynamic between the police and the communities for which they are responsible. You will apply your knowledge of how human beings interact in specific social circumstances. You will propose a solution, strategy or training program to enhance empathetic responses and successful outcomes. You will then collaborate with your peers to present your proposal in a roundtable discussion.
