Welcome, Freshmen!

We’re so excited to welcome you to DHHS and to the start of your high school journey!

The School Counseling Department would like to extend a warm welcome and let you know that your counselor is here for you during your transition into high school. The beginning of high school can be both exciting and, for some, perhaps a bit overwhelming. Please know that you’re not alone—your school counselors are always here for you in person, by phone, or by email whenever you need support or guidance.

High school is a time of exploration, growth, and new opportunities. Whether you're navigating new classes, making new friends, or getting involved in clubs and activities, we’re here to help you find your footing and make the most of this exciting new chapter.

Here are some helpful tips to get you adjusted to freshman year:

• Explore our school’s websites.
  Get familiar with the DHHS High School site where you’ll find important updates, resources, and information. This will be your go-to for staying in the loop!
• Visit the DHHS Library Media Center.
  You’ll find great book recommendations and academic databases that will help you with schoolwork—and maybe even discover a new favorite read!
• Meet your school counselor.
  We encourage you to set up a time to chat with your counselor during a study hall. You can do this easily by making an appointment through your counselors Google classroom, sending an email or stopping by the school counseling office. Not sure who your counselor is? No problem—just check the counselor assignment list or ask in the office.

We know this year will bring lots of changes, but we also know you’re capable of amazing things. Your freshman year is just the beginning—and we’re here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
