Welcome Back Class of 2027
Welcome Back, Juniors!
Welcome to your junior year at DHHS! You’re officially upperclassmen now—and this year marks an exciting (and important!) stage in your high school journey.
Junior year is a time of focus, growth, and preparation. It’s when things start to come together, and you begin to connect what you're doing now with where you want to go next. Whether you’re thinking about college, the workforce, the military, or other post-secondary plans, this is your year to explore, reflect, and take action—and your school counselors are here to guide you through it all.
We know junior year can feel like a lot at times—academics, testing, planning for the future—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. We're here in the building, by phone, or email whenever you need us.
What to Expect in Junior Year:
- Challenging and rewarding academics.
Junior year coursework often ramps up in difficulty—but it also gives you a chance to really show your growth. Focus on strong study habits, time management, and staying organized. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need academic support. - Post-secondary planning begins.
Starting in the 2nd Trimester, we will be meeting individually with all juniors and their families to discuss your plans after high school. You’ll receive more information during the early winter regarding scheduling your meeting. These are important conversations, and we’re looking forward to helping you chart your next steps! - Standardized testing and prep.
This is the year many students take the SAT, ACT, or other assessments. Make sure to talk to your counselor about the best testing plan for you, and use available prep resources through DHHS and online. - Career and interest exploration.
Take time to reflect on your interests and strengths. Consider job shadows, volunteer work, or getting involved in leadership roles at school. These experiences can help you discover what you might want to pursue beyond high school. - Keep using your resources.
- The DHHS Library Media Center continues to be a great place for academic support and quiet focus.
- The Student Page is still your go-to for info on clubs, events, and opportunities.
- And don’t forget to check back here on the School Counseling page for upcoming announcements, forms, and important dates.
Junior year is a big one—but it’s also full of possibilities. Take it one step at a time, and know that your counselors are always here to help you make the most of it. We're proud of how far you’ve come, and we’re excited to help you take your next big steps forward.
Let’s make this a meaningful and successful year—welcome back, Class of 2027!
Warmly,
Your DHHS School Counselors
