Class of 2026...This is Your Year!
Welcome, Seniors!
Congratulations—you’ve made it to your senior year at DHHS! This is your final year of high school, and we couldn’t be more excited for all the accomplishments and milestones you’ll achieve in the year ahead.
Senior year is a time for reflection, celebration, and most importantly, preparation for what comes next. Whether you’re thinking about college, entering the workforce, enlisting in the military, or exploring other post-secondary options, we’re here to support you every step of the way. You’ve worked hard to get to this point, and now it’s time to focus on making your post-graduation plans a reality.
This year will be full of decisions, deadlines, and celebrations—and your school counselors are here to guide you through it all. We’ll help you stay organized, navigate applications, and manage everything you need to do to wrap up your high school career and move on to your next adventure.
What to Expect in Senior Year:
- Post-secondary planning is front and center.
Starting this fall, you’ll meet with your counselor one-on-one to discuss your post-secondary plans. We’ll talk about your goals, application processes (college, vocational programs, military, or jobs), and next steps to ensure you’re ready for life after high school. You’ll receive more information about scheduling your meeting soon! - College applications and deadlines.
Senior year is when college applications, essays, and scholarships take priority. Make sure to keep an eye on deadlines, and stay on top of your tasks. SchooLinks will help you with this! - Financial aid and scholarships.
It’s also time to start thinking about financial aid options. FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens in October. Additionally, there are plenty of scholarship opportunities—be sure to check your counselors Google classroom page regularly for updates. - Staying focused on academics.
Even though graduation is in sight, senior year is still an important academic year. Keep your grades up, stay engaged in your classes, and finish strong! Remember, colleges and employers will look at your senior year performance, so it's important to stay focused. - Celebrate your achievements.
Senior year is full of exciting milestones—homecoming, prom, graduation, and more. Enjoy this time to celebrate your hard work and the friendships you’ve built throughout high school. We’re here to support you through these final moments as a DHHS student.
Senior year will be one of your most exciting—and possibly most challenging—years of high school. But no matter what comes your way, you’ve got the skills, support, and determination to finish strong. We’re here to help you navigate all the details, plan for your future, and celebrate your successes.
Let’s make this year unforgettable. You’ve earned it, Class of 2026!
Warmly,
Your DHHS School Counselors
