Class Officer Applications

Serving as a class officer at Daniel Hand High School is a demanding and time-consuming position.  Class officers must be responsible and supportive members of our school community, willing and able to spend time outside of school preparing for class events and activities.

If you meet the criteria outlined below, you are invited to apply to one of the eight positions available in your grade level.  Once the administration has reviewed and approved your application, you will be an official candidate and may proceed with submitting your essay for voting consideration.

All candidates must meet the following criteria to run for an elected position:

  1. Students must exhibit exemplary behavior and citizenship.
  2. Students must have an overall "C" average. (2.0 on Honor Roll Scale).
  3. Students must not have excessive unexcused absences.
  4. Students must obtain the recommendations and signatures of five teachers from this school year.
  5. Students running for a second, third, or fourth term must obtain a recommendation and signature from one class advisor to verify they are currently an active class officer.
  6. Students must complete an essay stating in 150 words or fewer why they would like to hold a position as Class Officer. Please include your name and graduation year at the top of your essay.
  7. The essay must be submitted using the link listed below.
  8. Both the completed signature page and the essay must be submitted prior to the deadlines outlined below to be eligible for consideration.  

 

Application Timeline

May 7

Your completed Class Officer Signature Page must be submitted to Mrs. Minniti in the Main Office by Thursday, May 7, 2026, before 2:30 p.m.

May 8

Students whose applications were not approved will be notified by the administration by Friday, May 8, 2026.

May 13

Your completed Class Officer Essay must be submitted via a Google Form that will be shared once you are approved. This must be time stamped by Wednesday, May 13, 2026, by 11:59 pm.   

Note:  Essays must be submitted from a student's MPS email account.  

May 15

Candidate essays will be available to read on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Elections will be held during school on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.  Voting will be announced when to proceed.

May 21

Class Officers for the 2026-2027 school year will be announced.
