Food Service 2020
The lunchtime experience will be somewhat different as we start the 2020-21 school year. We have enhanced protocols which include touchless payment systems, extra cleaning between lunch waves, and social distancing while eating.
Kindergarten - Grade 5
Students in Grades K-5 will eat in their classrooms. The teacher will send an order form to the cafeteria in the morning. The cafeteria will deliver food to the classroom. Menus will consist of meal bundles only. À la carte will not be offered.
Grades 6 - 12
Students will proceed to the cafeteria to purchase food. The menu will consist of full meals only. À la carte will not be offered. Students will wear a mask in the cafeteria and may only remove it while they are seated. Cashiers will wear a mask and stand behind a plexiglass shield.
All meals must be paid with the students lunch account. To keep our process as touchless as possible, the cafeteria will not accept cash. All students* will pay for meals using their Student ID account.
- Elementary meals will be charged to the student's account by the kitchen staff before the meals are delivered to the classroom.
- Middle and high school students will pay for their meal by scanning their student ID card or lunch card at the cash register.
Click the "Manage Meal Payments" button to visit the MealPayPlus website where you can add funds, and view your account balance and purchase history.
Alternatively, you may mail a check to Mr. Joe Barraco, Food Services Director, Daniel Hand High School, 286 Green Hill Road, Madison, CT 06443. When sending payment by check please specify how much to allocate to each of your children, as each child has their own account.
*This same process works for students receiving free or reduced priced meals.
